In my personal opinion, the upgrades on newer Nespresso vertuo vs vertuoplus and Grand Cru machines are mostly meaningless. I didn’t buy my machine to open silently or be told how much water is left in the reservoir.
In fact, I rarely use these new features and usually find them more common annoyances as they get in the way of what I’m focused on. I’d rather have a solid power-powerful heating element, larger water tank capacity and larger spent capsule capacity for example.
I also think it’s a little nicer looking too but aesthetics are too subjective to focus on much there. If you agree with these points and don’t mind paying a higher retail price then go with the Nespresso vertuo vs vertuoplus if available.
If you want something a little more affordable or you tend to enjoy the swivel tank, stick with the standard Vertuo vs Nespresso VertuoPlus comparison, which both offer some nice advantages over their countertop counterparts at nearly half the price (at least).

Features of Nespresso Vertuo Coffee Maker
The VertuoLine uses an image sensor to read the type of capsule inserted in order to determine not only its size but also to prevent injections of unauthorized capsules. This helps customers better enjoy the consistently high quality that OriginalLine is known for by allowing them to choose whichever capsule they prefer and offers OriginalLine the ability to remain competitive with third-party capsules such as HiLine and Gourmesso while increasing profits.
Nespresso’s OriginalLine capsules are less expensive than VertuoLine capsules. It varies by original line capsule, but generally, OriginalLine capsules are around 30% or less expensive than the VertuoLine variety.
Cremas are the crema in coffee. Crema is a light brown foam on top of the liquid that consists of oils that rise to the surface as coffee is brewed. It creates a nice-looking, albeit slightly oily layer on the surface of your espresso drink and can be whipped like cake batter in some machines.
OriginalLine machines have more authentic and satisfying-looking crema than those made by VertuoLine machines because they share their trademarked “Centrifusion” but don’t have quite their taste or mouthfeel.
Pump vs Centrifusion
The VertuoLine from Dolce Gusto machines uses rotating pods instead of a typical pump. Overall, this results in narrower and less flavored coffee, which comes out being lighter because the pressure is not as intense.
Just like any other machine out there, when it comes to the final taste and texture of the coffee, the quality of water added and how long you let your drink sit for before drinking will have a big impact.

Features of Nespresso Vertuoplus Coffee Maker
This model is covered by a one-year warranty including necessary repairs and replacement. In the case of a breakdown, Nespresso will offer loaner machines in order to keep you going.
The VertuoPlus allows you to save time by saving steps in cleaning your machine. Once the three-button is pushed, you can then immerse your device in a container of water that will cycle through up to three times within five minutes.
Nespresso recommends using a descaling solution sold by itself as it is more affordable than mixing it with water and harsher on the environment than other options like white vinegar (which you can use AFTER descaling, but shouldn’t need because once per month should be enough for most people).
If you are an espresso lover but prefer drip over a brew, look no further than the Mr. Coffee 4-Cup Switch Coffeemaker with Iced Coffee and Tea Brewing System. Depending on which method you choose and what kind of grind you like best, the ultra-portable coffeemaker can make either five regular cups or three extra high 8-ounce mugs (perfect caffeine boost if you’re a college student).
The machine also comes with a cup warming feature that helps your favorite beverage stay hot so you don’t have to wait until it cools down before sipping it in class. Mr. Coffee even took special care to ask for customer feedback and included features their most loyal customers wanted including a sleek compact design that is great for storage and travel.
This Vertuo line machine automatically adjusts its settings based on the type of pod you insert, giving your delicious cup without any effort. This single button doubles as an indicator for everything from cleaning modes to errors.
We recommend keeping the user manual handy so you can decipher where all these lights are coming from! You’ll want to adjust the volume of water used in each cup size and can also re-set back to Nespresso’s recommended amount of water.
The VertuoPlus adjustable water tank is great for the counter. It lets you conserve space and keep your water reservoir within reach. The power cable can also be adjusted in its placement, and the cup support can be set to accommodate four different cup sizes.
There is one aspect of the design that we wish was better: the used capsule container, which sits at the back of the machine. We don’t like this because it means that you have to take off the water tank to empty it, which is inconvenient. However, it does have a magnetized closure, which makes this process simpler than it otherwise would be.
Overall, I do think that the Nespresso vertuo vs vertuoplus is the superior choice in terms of quality and user experience. However, if you love the look of the design of the Nespresso vertuo vs vertuolucent but can’t justify the slightly higher price tag, the Nespresso coffee vertuo vs vertuo is a great alternative.
